Creativity in business?
Business professionals don’t often view themselves as creatives. Our mindset leaves the creativity to the artists, brand designers and musicians. We mistakenly just call us ourselves “problem solvers.” In this market creativity in business is a differentiator.
It goes beyond problem solving which can often lead you to a solution that’s already in the market. Problem solving generally leads to focusing on improving execution as it can provide an immediate return but eventually plateaus will be reached. The plateaus are reached as the end result becomes eventually familiar to the marketplace. Familiarity is not a differentiator, especially in a market where change is not only needed but change is desired.
Creating space for innovation through discovery, communication and the confidence to try becomes the challenge. We are all more creative than we think.
Being able to think outside the box and create ideas means you have to create the space for that to happen. Is it a challenge worth accepting?
